Fall Ball at halfway: one unbeaten team, a 15–1 rout and seven one-run games

Two weekends, 24 games, and seven of them decided by a single run. Fall Ball 2026 is living up to the billing at Finsbury Park. One team is still unbeaten, the adult leagues are neck and neck at the top, and Week 3 throws up some rematches worth turning up for.

Youth: the Eagles keep finding a way

The Newark Eagles are the only unbeaten side in Fall Ball, but it hasn’t always been comfortable. Their Week 1 opened with a pair of 6–5 wins over the Kansas City Monarchs and the Homestead Grays. They looked more assured in Week 2, beating the Monarchs 9–2.

Then came the game of the youth season so far. The Grays went toe to toe with the leaders and earned a 9–9 tie, the only time anyone has taken anything off the Eagles. The Grays also beat the Monarchs 8–4, avenging a 6–3 Week 1 defeat to the same side.

That leaves the Eagles on 3–0–1, the Grays at 1–2–1 and the Monarchs at 1–3. On Saturday the Grays get first crack at the leaders at 11:30 and the Grays and Monarchs settle second place at 13:00. Then the Monarchs, beaten by a single run the first time, try to end the Eagles’ run at 14:30.

Major League: Expos in front, Barons bounce back

The Expos have set the pace at 3–1, with 29 runs scored and just 15 allowed, the best record in the division on both counts. They beat the Barons 6–4 and hammered the Titans 9–2 in Week 1, then added a 10–4 win over the Titans last Sunday.

The Barons have turned their season around. They went 0–2 in Week 1, losing a 12–10 slugfest to the Titans in the highest-scoring game of the Major League. Then they came back to win both games in Week 2, including a 5–4 edge over the Expos that is still the leaders’ only defeat. That 12–10 win is still the only one for the Titans, who sit at 1–3.

Sunday on D3 is a full set of rematches. Titans v Barons at 10:30 replays the 12–10 thriller. Barons v Expos at 12:30 is the game between the two in-form sides, and Expos v Titans closes the day at 14:30.

Minor League: Slammers and Pitchers out in front

The result of the fortnight belongs to the Scarecrow Slammers, who beat the Acorn Aces 15–1. Their only defeat was a 6–4 loss to the Lantern Launchers in Week 1. They then swept Week 2, beating the Launchers 10–5 and edging the Wet Sox 10–9, and now lead the Minor League at 3–1 with a +18 run difference.

The Pumpkin Pitchers match them at 3–1, and they’ve done it the hard way: 13–12 over the Finsbury Witches, 11–5 over the Wet Sox and 8–7 over the Acorn Aces. The Witches got their revenge in Week 2, winning 12–9 to hand the Pitchers their only loss and pick up their first win of the season.

On Saturday, the Pitchers, Launchers and Wet Sox play their round-robin on D3. Pumpkin Pitchers v Lantern Launchers at 10:30 is a first-ever meeting, and so is Slammers v Witches on Sunday at 12:30. Sunday on D1 brings a big one for the Acorn Aces at 10:30: a rematch with the Slammers side that beat them 15–1.
