Before what became a torrential downpour Sunday, the London Capitals secured one victory over the Herts Falcons. In an explosive 3rd inning, both Pete Wiedmann and Louis Wampler scored twice as the Caps batted around to put 9 runs on the board. The big inning was extended by the rare catcher's interference (MLB example), wherein Caps batter Masa Hashiguchi's swing was impeded by Herts backstop Warwick Byrne. In this instance, the batter is awarded first base, much like a hit-by-pitch. Rhys Wilson tossed 4 solid innings giving up Herts' lone run, and Bobby Anderson finished the 5th to secure the mercy victory.
London and Herts tried to play game of the double header at Enfield, but were cut short by the heavy rains. London lead 12-3 in the 4th inning, but 5 innings are required for a game to be made official. It is currently unclear if/when the game will be completed.
