FAQ
Mets Youth baseball focuses on training with good amounts of fun and competition. Our sessions are managed by experienced adult coaches and players from our top UK adult programs, thus offering high-quality training for young players and beginners.
Groupings: Players will be divided into younger or older age groups with concurrent sessions with half alternating outdoors on artificial turf and indoors in the gym in the regular format of past years. Batting will be indoors in cricket tunnels, and outside we’ll focus on fielding. At check-in, each player will be directed into their group and where they will warm up. As always, please plan to arrive early, especially the first time, as it is a new venue, so we can start on time. T-ball group will remain indoors for the entire time.
Housekeeping: Snacks and water breaks: coaches will provide short water intervals, and at the mid-point switchover time, there will be an opportunity to have a quick snack. Please bring a water bottle, preferably labeled with your player's name. There will not be a lunch break given our afternoon starting time. Toilets and changing rooms will be available.
Equipment reminder: Players should dress in baseball gear, including cap if they have it otherwise comfortable sports clothes for indoor/outdoor activities should be worn. Boys are expected to bring personal protective gear. Players should bring their gloves, catching equipment, bats, and helmets if they have them. Otherwise, the club will provide equipment too, including gloves. For outdoors, turf shoes or trainers, light jackets or jumpers are recommended depending on the specific day. Trainers must be worn inside. Some days, club merchandise will be offered for sale. Please refer to our equipment reminder on our youth page and our club shop link. Club merch will be available some sessions.
Volunteering: We welcome and need help from parents in all aspects of the youth program, including but not limited to administrative checking-in, coaching or assistant coaching, and equipment set-up and breakdown. Looking further, we’d like to train willing parents on scoring and umpiring, to help with the field upkeep. The registration forms will provide a list of volunteer activities that could support the club.
